FORT PIERCE, Fl. – The Penn State Behrend baseball team fell to Drew University 13-10 in 10 innings on Thursday afternoon in the Sunshine State.
The Rangers (8-2) were held off the scoreboard until the fourth inning, but managed to score 10 late runs to erase a 6-0 Lions (2-5) lead.
Behrend jumped on Drew early with six second-inning runs. Mason McGuire (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) doubled to score Joshua Wagner (South Park, PA/South Park) and Zach Murray (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin). McGuire, Ian Taylor (Wexford, PA/Vincentian Academy), Scott Sada (Saegertown, PA/Saegertown), and Ryan Hamm (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) all came around to score after each recording hits.
Drew then added two runs in the fourth with the help of a couple hits. In the bottom of that inning, the Lions recorded two more runs from Taylor's double, scoring both Murray and McGuire.
The Rangers began their comeback by scoring five runs in the seventh, followed by three runs in the ninth to even the game at 10-all to send it into extras for the second straight day.
Continuing their momentum, Drew registered a pair of doubles and a single to score three runs in the top of the 10th to gain a 13-10 advantage they would hold onto.
Murray and McGuire each tallied three hits on the day.
Behrend will be back in action today at 10 a.m. against Misericordia.
