GREENSBURG, Pa. – Heidi Langhorst (Corapolis, PA/Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) had career highs with 13 rebounds and six blocks to lead the Penn State Behrend women's basketball team past Pitt-Greensburg 75-53 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Wednesday night.
The Lions (4-6, 3-1 AMCC) shot a season-best 46.6 percent from the floor and tied a season high with 54 total rebounds to close out conference play for the year with their third straight victory. Ali Goetz (Mars, PA/Mars) shot 85 percent from the field for a team-high 13 points, just one of four players in double-figure scoring.
The Bobcats (3-9, 3-2 AMCC) were led by Kelsey Oddis' 23 points and 10 rebounds.
Goetz came off the bench in the first quarter to go a perfect 3-for-3 from the field, scoring six points in six minutes to give Behrend a 15-9 lead after the first 10 minutes of play. In the second quarter, Woll registered half of the Lions points to keep the steady lead at halftime, 27-20.
Behrend scored almost as many points in the third quarter than they did in the first and second quarters combined. Fontaine Glenn (West Sunbury, PA/Moniteau) tallied all of her eight points in the third quarter, going 4-for-5 from the field. Langhorst added six points for a 53-42 advantage with one period left to play.
Rachael Razzano (New Castle, PA/New Castle) led the charge in the fourth quarter that saw the Lions outscoring Pitt-Greensburg 22-11. The senior guard tallied eight points, including six straight layups in one minute, nine seconds to push the lead to 58-45 with 7:45 remaining.
Behrend's stingy defense held the Bobcats to just three field goals in the fourth quarter to post a 22-point win.
In addition to 12 points, Chess added 11 boards.
Behrend returns to action on Friday, December 30 at Carnegie Mellon. Game time is 2 p.m.
