The Lions (5-9, 4-3 AMCC), holding a one-point lead at halftime, outscored the Hawks (7-7, 4-4 AMCC) 20-10 in the third quarter and hold on for their fourth conference win and sixth straight over Hilbert.
Kelsi Ebert and Emily Gawlak each tallied 13 points for the Hawks.
The opening three-pointer by Gawlak was the largest point margin in the first quarter that saw seven lead changes and three ties, leaving Hilbert with a 13-11 lead at the end. In the second period, Behrend used a 9-2 run to take an eight-point lead with 3:40 to play. The Hawks got within one twice, including in the final minute of the quarter after a layup from Katelyn Proy to cut the lead to 26-25 at the half.
The Lions never trailed in the second half. Behrend held Hilbert scoreless in the last 3:25 of the third quarter to extend the lead from three points to 11 heading into the fourth period. Chess recorded back-to-back buckets and Woll followed with a jumper, ending with a Heidi Langhorst (Corapolis, PA/Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) field goal off a pass from Ali Goetz (Mars, PA/Mars) to make it 46-35.
The Hawks started the comeback in the fourth quarter with an 8-2 run, but the Lions buckled down on defense in the final 4:15 and allowed just one more Hilbert field goal while pushing the lead back to double digits for the win.
Rachael Razzano (New Castle, PA/New Castle) was the only other Behrend player in double figures with 11 points.
Goetz contributed seven points and dished out a career-high five assists.
