Jimmy Belack consistently excelled for the Behrend men’s soccer team from 2011-14. He was the program’s first-ever NSCAA Scholar All-American. Belack was a three-time All-Conference selection and four-time AMCC All-Academic choice. His senior year, he was named the Behrend Athlete of the Year, ECAC South Player of the Year, AMCC Player of the Year, Team MVP and First Team Great Lakes All-Region. Belack tied the program record for total points in a season in 2014 (48) and became the all-time leader in assists (36). He finished second in the record books in both career points (108) and career goals (36).
There are very few things Belack has not done in his illustrious soccer career.
Freshman year, Belack scored the game winner in a 1-0 win over No. 13 Hobart in the NCAA first-round game, helping the Lions advance to the second round for the second time in program history. His game winner was his fifth and final of the season to go along with seven assists for 17 points, earning him Team Rookie of the Year.
His sophomore season, Belack was the second-leading scorer with 11 goals and seven assists for 29 points. He netted three game-winning goals and earned Second Team All-AMCC. Belack helped the Lions earn the title of Regular-Season Champions and advance to the ECAC Tournament.
He helped transform Behrend soccer into a national contender. The next two seasons, Behrend won consecutive AMCC Championships and advanced to the NCAA Tournament, returning for the third time in his four years. The Lions tallied a 34-8-2 record in those two years and Belack contributed a combined 20 goals, 22 assists for 62 points.
On October 23, 2014, Belack became the all-time leader in assists on a pass to Anthony Crivelli in a 7-2 win over D’Youville. Not only did he break the assists record, but Belack tied the program record for total points thanks to 17 goals and 14 assists his senior year. He also became the fourth player in program history to be named the AMCC Offensive Player of the Year.
On the field success was evident but his list of academic accomplishments is equally impressive. The four-time AMCC All-Academic also became the program’s first-ever NSCAA Scholar All-American and earned the coveted Behrend Male Athlete of the Year honor.
