Behrend Baseball Earns Ninth Straight ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award
The Penn State Behrend baseball team has been awarded the 2024-25 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award for the ninth consecutive season. The Lions were one of 169 Division III teams to be recognized for their efforts off the field, presented by Sports Attack.
ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend baseball team has been awarded the 2024-25 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award for the ninth consecutive season. The Lions were one of 169 Division III teams to be recognized for their efforts off the field, presented by Sports Attack.
To earn the ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award, a team's head coach must be a member of the ABCA while posting a team grade-point average of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale for the cumulative 2024-25 academic year.
"We have a terrific group of student-athletes on our roster," said head coach Paul Benim. "We are incredibly impressed with the championship effort they give us in the classroom and between the lines. We appreciate the ABCA recognizing this effort."
The Lions placed nine student-athletes on the Academic All-AMCC list with four members of the team earning Peak Performer honors for recording a GPA above 3.5 for the school year.
