Late Rally Lifts Behrend Baseball Past Westminster

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend baseball team scored six of their seven runs in the final three innings to defeat Westminster 7-2 in a non-conference single game on Monday afternoon.

Key Moments:

* The teams battled through 12 scoreless innings, both striking early for a 1-all tie after six innings
* The Lions scored four runs in the seventh to take the lead for good and added two insurance runs in the ninth
* Will McMahon and Chase Caricato combined held the Titans to seven hits and two runs
* Caricato recorded the win in relief, pitching 3.1 innings and fanning three
* Five players registered two hits apiece
* Dylan Barnes smacked his second home run of the season and David Gibson had the other extra-base hit with a double
* In the seventh inning, Behrend turned a stalemate into a 5-1 lead
* Gibson started the frame with a single followed by Cayden Turner's bunt single to put runners on first and second
* Jake Federouch loaded the bases with a walk
* Tyler Burick scored two on an RBI single to left field and Thomas Nicely hit a two-RBI single up the middle for a four-run lead with no outs
* Burick was instrumental in the two runs in the ninth, starting with a single, stole second and scored on a wild pitch
* Barnes homered to left field for the final 7-2 margin
