Behrend Baseball Dominates Early, Battles Back Late for Twinbill Sweep

ALFRED, NY – The Behrend baseball team shut out Alfred State 7-0 in game one before a 5-4 game-two victory in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Saturday.
Game One
Score: Penn State Behrend 7, Alfred State 0
Record: Behrend (21-6, 9-2AMCC), Alfred State (12-21, 6-5 AMCC)
Key Moments:
* Colin Bolla threw a two-hit shutout and stuck out 12 in the win
* Bolla is now six strikeouts away from 200 for his career
* The opener was scoreless through three innings before Behrend broke through with three runs in the fourth
* Seven different players registered a hit
* Thomas Nicely smacked his seventh double of the season, while Jake Federouch had two RBIs
* In the fourth, David Gibson scored on a wild pitch and Federouch singled to left field to second home Cayden Turner and Hank Shaffer
* The Lions followed with three more runs in the fifth and added an insurance run in the sixth
Game Two

Record: Behrend (22-6, 10-2 AMCC), Alfred State (12-22, 6-6 AMCC)
* Behrend scored five unanswered runs over two innings to sweep the Pioneers
* A total of nine runs were scored in three innings
* Alfred State took the lead with all its runs in the fourth
* The Pioneers had five hits and scored four runs, keeping that lead until the sixth inning
* In the sixth, the Lions cut the lead to one with three runs
* Two runners were hit by a pitch to start the frame and Gibson scored Ionadi from third with a single
* Dylan Barnes scored on a double play by Alfred State before Paul Connolly singled to score Cayden Turner, who reached by an error
* The final two runs came in the seventh
* With two outs showing, Barnes singles, Gibson walked and Shaffer was hit by a pitch to load the bases
* Nicely singles to center field to knock in Gibson and Barnes
* Jake Manendo pitched 7.1 innings for the win, allowing two earned runs
* Jack Baumgartel finished the final 1.2 and struck out one
