Nicely Reaches 100 Career RBIs; Barnes Hits Walk-Off Double in Game-One Win Against Chatham

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend baseball team defeated Chatham 10-9 with a walk-off double in game one, before falling in the nightcap 13-4 in non-conference action on Thursday.

Game One: Penn State Behrend 10, Chatham 9

Noteworthy: Senior catcher Thomas Nicely reached 100 career RBIs in game one

Key Moments:

* Dylan Barnes hit a walk-off double to help the Lions get their first win in the first-ever meeting between the two teams
* In the bottom of the seventh, Spencer Deitz reached and stole second before Joey Fazzone was hit by a pitch
* With one out and Barnes up to bat, the junior was ahead in the count with two balls before smacking the third pitch and sending it between left and center field for the game-winning hit to score Deitz from second  
* Barnes finished 3-for-4 with four RBIs, while Nicely went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs
* Tyler Burick added two hits and two RBIs, while David Gibson drove in two runs
* Jack Baumgartel earned the victory in relief after a scoreless seventh inning

* Behrend grabbed an early 2-1 lead in the first inning on a two-run single from Nicely
* Chatham answered with a three-run second inning to make it 4-2
* The Lions pulled even in the third after Barnes launched a solo home run and Paul Connolly reached on a play that brought in an unearned run
* The Cougars regained the lead in the fourth and steadily added insurance runs in the fifth and sixth innings
* A five-run seventh inning put the game out of reach
