Behrend Baseball Advances to AMCC Championship Game; Lions Defeat Pitt-Greensburg
The No. 1 Penn State Behrend baseball team defeated No. 3 Pitt-Greensburg 6-4 on day two of the 2026 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championships on Friday.
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The No. 1 Penn State Behrend baseball team defeated No. 3 Pitt-Greensburg 6-4 on day two of the 2026 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championships on Friday.

Key Moments:
* Behrend scored two runs on four hits in the bottom of the eighth to break a four-all tie and advance to the title game on Saturday
* Three straight hits started the eighth for the Lions, Cayden Turner single, Adam Cooper double and another hit from Jake Federouch to load the bases
* Spencer Deitz got Cooper home and Tyler Burick singled to left center to get in Federouch for a 6-4 lead
* Jack Baumgartel, the winning pitcher in relief, allowed one hit and then recorded three straight outs in the ninth for the final two-run win
* Behrend opened the scoring in the bottom of the second
* David Gibson doubled, advanced to third on a sacrifice, and scored on a fly ball by Cooper
* Pitt-Greensburg evened the score in the third when Tommy Smith singled in a run
* The Lions recaptured the advantage in the bottom half of the third when Dylan Barnes singled home Deitz
* After stranding a pair of runners in the fourth, Behrend extended its lead to 4-1 in the fifth
* Burick scored on a sacrifice by Thomas Nicely and Gibson followed with an RBI double to right center to plate Barnes
* The resilient Bobcats fought back with a three runs in the sixth to knot it at 4-all
* Andrew Bredel started on the mound and fanned five batters
* Five different players had two hits apiece for the Lions
* The Lions have reached 30 wins in a season for the 10th time in program history
