Behrend Baseball Claims Ninth AMCC Championship

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The No. 1 Penn State Behrend baseball team defeated No. 4 Alfred State 12-6 to capture the 2026 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championship on Saturday at Sargent's Stadium at the Point.

Noteworthy: 

* David Gibson, Sawyer Prince and Adam Cooper were named to the All-Tournament Team
* The Lions captured their ninth overall and third straight AMCC Championship
* It is the second three-peat for the Lions in program history
* It marks the fifth time Behrend won the AMCC Championship and were named Regular-Season Championships in the same season
* Behrend earns the AMCC automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament

Key Moments:

* The game played out like a championship until Behrend broke it open with five runs in the eighth
* The contest was knotted 6-all until the bottom of the seventh
* Adam Cooper scored the eventual game-winning run in the seventh to help the Lions capture the conference title
* Cooper led off the inning with a double, before getting home on a wild pitch to take a 7-6 advantage
* A four-run sixth inning for Alfred State gave the Pioneers their first lead at 6-4
* In the bottom of the frame, the Lions answered with two runs to make it 6-all

* Prince pitched the final three innings to earn his third win of the season
* Prince struck out four, including the final batter in the ninth inning to end the game
* Jake Manendo started the contest and pitched five inning, fanning five
* Behrend scored 12 runs on 17 hits, led by Gibson with four in six trips to the plate
* Tyler Burick added three hits (two doubles), two RBIs and a run
* The last time Behrend won three conference titles in a row was 2008-2010
