Behrend Men's Basketball Earns NABC Team Academic Excellence Award
The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced the Penn State Behrend men's basketball team as recipients of the 2025-26 NABC Team Academic Excellence Award along with nine players named to the NABC Honors Court for outstanding achievement in the classroom.
ERIE, Pa. – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced the Penn State Behrend men's basketball team as recipients of the 2025-26 NABC Team Academic Excellence Award along with nine players named to the NABC Honors Court for outstanding achievement in the classroom.
The Lions received the team award for carrying a GPA of 3.0 or higher and five student-athletes with a GPA of 3.2 or higher earned the individual accolades. Graduate student Matthew McDonough, seniors Charlie Breindel, Michael Sopko, Mason Blankenberg, and juniors Dolan Waldo, Jacob Jenisch, Jake Ziegler and James Wesling were honored. Each represents the Behrend Lions as Honors Court selections, helping Behrend to be one of over 400 programs deserving of the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award.
