Florida Tri-Meet Results
The Penn State Behrend men’s and women’s track and field teams competed in a tri-meet with Embry-Riddle and Malone College over Spring Break in Daytona Beach, Florida.
DAYTONA BEACH, FL – The Penn State Behrend men's and women's track and field teams competed in a tri-meet with Embry-Riddle and Malone College over Spring Break in Daytona Beach, Florida.
John Cerminara (Williamsburg, VA/Jamestown) and Billy Cvecko (Erie, PA/McDowell) broke school records while leading the Lions.
In the shot put, Cerminara cleared a distance of 14.11m to win the event. He also eclipsed the old outdoor school record he set last season. Cerminara also competed in the discus. The junior thrower won that event as well with a distance of 39.54m.
Hunter Zudans (West Chester, PA/West Chester Rustin) competed in the javelin for Behrend. Zudans cleared 54.69m to take first. In the last field event, Dylan Bilka (Seven Fields, PA/Seneca Valley) and Garrett Shaw (Saxonburg, PA/Knoch) tied Monte Willet for first in the pole vault. Both Bilka and Shaw vaulted 13'6''.
In the running events, the Lions had strong finishes as well. Cvecko ran the 800m in 1:56.74 to win the event. Cvecko now holds the school record which was last set in 2003. Denis Lydon (Plum, PA/Plum) continued to build on his strong season. Lydon crossed the line at 9:03.94 to win the 3000m run. The Behrend 4x400m relay team finished with a time of 3:34.44 for first place.
On the women's side, Katie Monoskey (Punxsutawney, PA/Punxsutawney) won the discus throw. Monoskey cleared a distance of 32.88m. Stephanie Stoughton (Chicora, PA/Karns City) joined Zundas by winning the javelin throw. Stoughton reached 32.39m. Victoria Harwood (Fair Haven, NJ/Rumson-Fair Haven) won the pole vault outright with a height of 11'.
