Men's Track and Field Competes at Cornell Invitational
The Penn State Behrend men’s track and field team competed at the Cornell Invitational on Saturday.
ITHICA, N.Y. – The Penn State Behrend men's track and field team competed at the Cornell Invitational on Saturday.
Kevin Gardner (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) and Conor MacMannis (Stafford, VA/Kubeszki) competed in the high jump for the Lions. Both athletes jumped 1.94m to place fourth and fifth, respectively.
In the pole vault, Dylan Bilka (Seven Fields, PA/Seneca Valley) took fourth place at 4.65m. Gardner, MacMannis, and Bilka all previously qualified for ECAC's and once again had qualifying heights.
Staying in the field events, senior John Cerminara (Williamsburg, VA/Jamestown) had a top-10 finish. Cerminara placed 10th in the shot put with a distance of 13.33m.
Turning to the track, Josh Natalie (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) had an excellent outing in the 500m. The freshman took fifth at 1:09.93. Kalil Slaughter (Sheffield, PA/Sheffield) placed eighth in the 200m with a time of 22.95.
Natalie teamed up with Devin Beggs (Franklin, PA/Franklin), Phil Martone (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Prep), and Matt McWilliams (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) for the 4x800m relay. The squad took sixth place at 8:10.15.
Four other Lions competed in the 4x400m relay and placed in the top-10. Kevin Lai (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgwood), Nick Marzka (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf), Jibreel Oliver (Silver Spring, MD/Georgetown Day School), and Andres Morales (Alajuela, Costa Rica/IS) teamed up and placed eighth with a time of 3:34.16.
Behrend will be back in action on Saturday at the Kenyon Invitational.
