Men's Indoor Track & Field Surges in Final Indoor Tune-Up at Houghton
The Penn State Behrend men’s indoor track & field team competed at Houghton in their Last Chance Qualifier on Saturday afternoon.
HOUGHTON, NY – The Penn State Behrend men's indoor track & field team competed at Houghton in their Last Chance Qualifier on Saturday afternoon.
Key Moments:
* The sprinters set the tone early in the 60-meter dash, placing three runners in the top five
* Carter Tobin secured the event title in 6.91 seconds, while Lee Qualk finished third with a season-best time of 7.11 and Marshall Nock placed fifth (7.19)
* The Lions had similar results in the 200m, claiming the top two spots
* Jake Egizio crossed first in 22.30, followed by Brandon Konieczki in second (23.12)
* Anderson Blakley added a fifth-place finish to give Behrend three top-five performers in the event (23.38)
* Qualk, Michael Werner, Alex Cotton and Derek Hillhouse added first-place finishes for Behrend
* Qualk led in the long jump (6.86m) and Werner led a 1-2-3 finish in the 3000m
* Werner posted a season-best time of 9:20.21, followed by Aidan Reinsel (9:21.21) and Logan Brewer (9:23.62)
* In the 400m, Brewer paced Behrend and took second in 52.13 and Blakely came in third with a season-best time of 52.49
* Brendan Luce (53.18) and Jake Walden (54.94) added depth to the 400m, finishing fourth and fifth, respectively
* The Lions swept the shot put, led by Cotton's winning throw of 15.37m
* Antonio Faraone was second (14.22m) and Ryan Visosky was third (13.91m)
* Hillhouse registered a height of 1.89m (6-2 ¼) to win the high jump on his second attempt
* The 4x200 relay, Brewer, Egizio, Tobin and Cole Cunningham, won with an AARTFC qualifying time of 1:30.11
* Ethan Vaughn was second in the mile, getting his season-best time of 4:28.06
