Tobin Wins Twice; Men's Track & Field Hosts Annual Invitational
Five different Penn State Behrend track & field athletes placed first in their respective events at the Lions home invitational held on Saturday.
ERIE, Pa. – Six different Penn State Behrend track & field athletes placed first in their respective events at the Lions home invitational held on Saturday.
Key Moments:
* Carter Tobin won two events, claiming the 100m in 10.65 and then placing first in the 200m (21.47)
* Nicolin Pierce ran a season-best time in the 1500m race for first (4:02.65) before taking sixth in the 1500m (16:43)
* In the field events, Alex Cotton, Antonio Faraone and Charlie Motter also took first place
* Faraone collected his first collegiate win in the discus with a personal-best throw of 43.83m for first place
* Cotton led a 1-2-3 finish in the shot put with a season-best throw of 16.53m
* Motter had the best throw this season in the javelin, tossing 57.32m for first
* Faraone and Ryan Visosky were two-three in the shot put, respectively (14.66m, 14.42m)
* Braden Balaski and Will Vanderweele followed Motter in the javelin
* Balaski was second in 56.66m and Vanderweele was third (48.53m)
* In the long jump, Brandon Konieczki came in second in 6.58m followed by Cole Cunningham in third (6.43m), Lee Qualk in fourth (6.42m) and Shlok Chavda in fifth (5.87m)
* In the 110m hurdles, Dominic Marino battled and took second with a time of 15.65
* Nathan DiGilio had the best throw in the hammer, finishing runner up with a hurl of 45.47m
* Derek Hillhouse and Alex Haskins recorded third-place finishes
* Hillhouse had a height of 1.88m in the high jump and Haskins led the 5000m race with a time of 15:50.00)
* In the 400m, Brendan Lace and Jake Walden had hundredths of a second separate the two
* Lace was fourth in 51.29 and Walden took fifth in 51.81
* Jake Egizio ran 22.04 in the 200m to take fifth overall
* Trent Turner led Behrend in the pole vault, getting a height of 3.40m for sixth overall
* In the 800m, Jake Betler and Ethan Hunt took seventh (2:02.30) and eighth (2:03.15), respectively
