Tobin Named MVP; Behrend Claims Runner Up at Conference Championships
Penn State Behrend men’s track & field sophomore Carter Tobin was named the Most Valuable Performer at the 2026 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Conference Outdoor Championships, hosted by Cortland.
CORTLAND, N.Y. – Penn State Behrend men's track & field sophomore Carter Tobin was named the Most Valuable Performer at the 2026 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Conference Outdoor Championships, hosted by Cortland.
Key Moments:
* The Lions registered 125.5 team points to place second out of 12 teams
* Tobin accounted for 20.5 points, the highest point getter at the championships to earn MVP
* Tobin is one of three athletes who secured a gold medal on the day
* The sprinter won the 200m with a time of 21.81 and also came in second place in the 100m (10.65)
* Tobin also ran on the third place 4x100m relay along with Dominic Marino, Jake Egizio and Cole Cunningham for a time of 42.08
* The 4x400m relay included Tobin, Brendan Luce, Ethan Hunt and David Friedrich that came in fifth place with a time of 3:26.52
* Peyton Brewer won the 3000m steeplechase with a new school record and regional-qualifying time of 9:33.76 to earn gold
* In the 1500m, Nicolin Pierce claimed the gold medal with a time of 4:01.20 and earn the team 20 points
* Alex Cotton garnered the silver medal in the shot put with a throw of 16.36 (52-8 ¼), followed by Antonio Faraone in sixth (14.38m – 48-8) and Ryan Visosky in eighth (14.20m – 46-7 ¼)
* Cotton also led the same trio in the discus, taking home bronze for third place with a toss of 44.42m (145-9)
* Visosky was eighth (41.88 – 137.5) and Faraone was 11th overall (41.12 – 134-11)
* In the high jump, Derek Hillhouse claimed the bronze medal with a height of 1.90m (6-2 ¾) followed by Boden Gushie in fourth (1.85m – 6-0 ¾)
* Finishing in fourth place in the 5000m was Alex Haskins with a time of 15:39.59 and Aidan Reinsel was ninth overall in 16:19.46
* Egizio also competed in the 400m, leading the Lions with a time of 50.14 for fifth place
* In the 110m hurdles, Marino led the way with a sixth-place finish with a regional-qualifying time of 15.44
* Schlok Chavda had a time of 59.10 in the finals of the 400m hurdles to take seventh overal
* Cortland garnered 240 points to claim the SUNYAC Outdoor Championship
* The top-3 finishers in each event earn a spot on the SUNYAC All-Conference Team
