Lions Fall to Heidelberg, Mt. St. Joseph at Spring Games

CLERMONT, Fl. – The Penn State Behrend softball team competed in the Spring Games on Sunday, falling to Heidelberg and Mt. St. Joseph.

Game 1
* The Lions fell to Heidelberg in game one of the day, 5-3
* Behrend came out strong, taking a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth
* Mackenzie McIntire (Stoneboro, PA/Lakeview) hit her first homerun of the season, a solo shot
* The Student Princes scored three unanswered runs, taking the lead in the fifth
* The Lions were unable to cut the deficit
* McIntire led the team with two hits and one RBI
* Alayna Derzak (Seven Fields, PA/Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic) and Lauren Olevnik (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) each tallied an RBI
Game 2
* Behrend took on Mt. St. Joseph in the second game falling 1-0
* The Mt. St. Joseph Lions scored the lone run in the sixth inning off a ground out to second base
* Alaina Wyckoff (Elma, NY/Iroquois Central) faced 21 batters and delivered 41 strikes in five innings
* Nichole DeRose (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam), Marissa Torretti (DuBois, PA/DuBois), and McIntire each registered a hit in the loss
