Senior pitcher Abby Tingley reached 250 career strikeouts while recording a win and a save in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) doubleheader against Mt. Aloysius on Friday. The Lions posted a 1-0 decision in game one and earned a 6-4 win in the nightcap.
ERIE, Pa. – Senior pitcher Abby Tingley reached 250 career strikeouts while recording a win and a save in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) doubleheader against Mt. Aloysius on Friday. The Lions posted a 1-0 decision in game one and earned a 6-4 win in the nightcap.
Game One: Penn State Behrend 1, Mt. Aloysius 0
Records: Penn State Behrend (10-7, 3-0 AMCC), Mt. Aloysius (5-14, 1-4 AMCC)
Key Moments:
* Tingley, who struck out nine batters, only needed one to reach 250 for her career
* Tingley threw a complete game for the shutout win and allowed two hits
* To start the game, Tingley struck out all three batters and went on to record a strike out in every inning except the third and sixth
* In the top of the second, Tingley fanned the final two batters to get out of a bases-loaded jam with one out
* Behrend tallied all its hits in the fifth inning to generate the game-winning run

* Behrend scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning and held on for the sweep
* Brown was hit by a pitch and advanced to second on a Chloe Nale single
* The Lions loaded the bases on an error by the pitcher and Brown scored on Hannah Smith's ground out
* A third-base error by the Mounties allowed Chloe Nale to score and make it 2-0
* Meghan Swain then delivered a RBI triple to right field to score Arianna Avila, before coming home on a wild pitch for a 4-0 advantage on only two hits
* Mt. Aloysius registered 11 hits in the game, getting three in the second to generate a run to cut the lead to 4-1
* Behrend answered with two more runs in the second
* Pozar and Avila hit RBI singles to score Malcolm and Brown
* The Mounties rallied with three runs in the final three innings
* Abby Tingley pitched in the seventh, striking out three batters and walking one
* Starter Julia Jones improves to 4-2 on the season, throwing 5.1 innings before the Tingley's provided relief
