ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend softball team split a non-conference doubleheader with Marietta, winning game one 2-1 and falling in game two 7-1 on Sunday afternoon.
Game One: Penn State Behrend 2, Marietta 1
Records: Penn State Behrend (16-7), Marietta (16-13)
Key Moments:
* Abby Tingley threw a complete game, allowing one run on seven hits
* Tingley recorded the final out in the seventh to secure the win, leaving three Marietta runners stranded
* Behrend loaded the bases in the first and was able to plate one run for the early lead
* Chloe Nale scored the eventual game-winning run in the bottom of the third
* Nale started the frame with a single to center field followed by a double from Julia Jones
* Hannah Smith had a sacrifice bunt to get Nale off third for the insurance run
* The Pioneers added a run in the sixth and were halted in the seventh with bases load
* Tingley struck out five and Jones finished with a perfect 3-for-3 showing

* Marietta snapped the Lions nine-game winning streak
* The Pioneers took their first lead of the doubleheader with five runs on four hits in the third
* Addison Heath hit a three-run homer over the left center fence for the 5-0 lead
* Marietta held Behrend to four hits and one run
* Meghan Swain registered the RBI on a ground out to score Jones, who doubled to start the inning
* Three of Behrend's four hits were doubles
* Jones started in the circle, recording the loss, before giving way to Lauren Rabanal, Claire Bodien and Alyssa Tingley in relief
