ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend softball team split a non-conference doubleheader with Alfred, falling in game one 5-0 and winning the nightcap, 3-2.
Game One: Alfred 5, Penn State Behrend 0

Noteworthy: Senior pitcher Abby Tingley registered her 300th career strikeout
Key Moments:
* Tingley threw a complete game, allowing four earned runs on seven hits while striking out five to get to the milestone
* Behrend tallied only three hits and left eight stranded including three in the bottom of the fifth inning
* After four scoreless innings, Alfred managed to add five runs in the final three innings
* The Saxons scored two in the fifth, one in the sixth and two more in the seventh
* Alfred managed five stolen bases and hit two doubles
* Kendall Steward earned the win in 4.2 innings pitched and Ava Galvan recorded the save

* The Lions snapped the Saxons 11-game winning streak
* Behrend rallied from a 2-0 deficit to record the one-run comeback victory
* Alfred struck first with runs in the third and fourth innings
* The Lions got on the board in the fifth after Athena Iverson doubled to lead off the inning and later score on an RBI single by Karma Malcolm
* Four hits in the sixth produced two runs, allowing Behrend to take its first lead and for good
* Jones started with a double to right center before Hannah Smith got on base with a single
* Swain's RBI bunt scored Jones to tie the game and Malcolm had the game-winning RBI single up the middle to send home Smith
* Malcolm finished with two RBIs and two hits, while Jones, Smith, Swain, Iverson and Izabel Pozar totaled eight hits in the win
* Ashley Bartus started in the and Claire Bodien registered the win in relief
* Defensively, the Lions closed out the game on Alexia Brown's throw to Swain to catch Alexis Martinez stealing
