Behrend Softball Wins 12th AMCC Championship
The No. 1 Penn State Behrend softball team defeated No. 2 Penn State Altoona 8-7 to capture the 2026 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championship on Saturday.
DUBOIS, Pa. – The No. 1 Penn State Behrend softball team defeated No. 2 Penn State Altoona 8-7 to capture the 2026 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championship on Saturday.
Noteworthy:
* Alexia Brown, Hannah Smith, and Meghan Swain were named to the All-Tournament Team
* The Lions captured their 12th overall AMCC Championship
* Behrend earns the AMCC automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament

Key Moments:
* The Lions got out of a jam in the opening inning with bases loaded one out
* Starter and winning pitcher Abby Tingley fanned Riley Best and the defense turned a double play to escape the top of the frame
* Chloe Nale got Behrend on the board with a solo home run on her first pitch for the 1-0 lead
* In the second, the Lions got back-to-back doubles by Athena Iverson and Lexi Edgett
* Edgett's double through the left side scored Iverson
* Karma Malcolm got on with a fielder's choice and scored on an error for a 3-0 lead
* Behrend added one more run in the third before scoring four runs in the fifth
* The Lions managed to plate four runs on three errors while stranding three runners to make it 8-1
* Altoona registered six unanswered runs in the sixth and seventh innings to make it a one-run game
* Alyssa Tingley came in relief for the final inning and fanned the final batter with a 3-2 count for the save
* Julia Jones and Iverson tallied two hits for the Behrend
