Women's Basketball Set to Host ECAC DIII Championships
The Penn State Behrend women's basketball team earned the program's 15th bid to the 2025 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Championships, announced on Monday.
ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's basketball team earned the program's 15th bid to the 2025 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Championships, announced on Monday.
The No. 2 Lions (21-6) will host the four-team pod this weekend in the Junker Center. No. 1 McDaniel (17-9) will face No. 4 Alvernia (13-12) in opening game of the first round at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Behrend will take on No. 3 Allegheny (18-8) in the second game at 3 p.m. The two quarterfinal winners will square off on Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Lions made their last ECAC Division III Tournament appearance in 2022-23. That year, Behrend fell to Alvernia 80-67 in the first round.
Behrend is coming off a 67-55 loss in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championship game to the La Roche Redhawks, while the Gators fell in the Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC) semifinal game to Chatham, 57-45.
The Lions won the ECAC Championship in 1991-92 and in 1995-96.
