Cook, Wade Earn Top AMCC Honors
The Penn State Behrend women’s swimming and diving team earned 24 All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) honors, along with Julie Cook being named Swimmer of the Year and Meghan Wade selected as Diver of the Year, announced on Wednesday.

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team earned 24 All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) honors, along with Julie Cook (Warren, PA/Warren) being named Swimmer of the Year and Meghan Wade (Berea, OH/Berea) selected as Diver of the Year, announced on Wednesday.
Cook led the Lions to their sixth straight AMCC Championship this season, winning two individual events and swimming on three first-place relay teams to earn Swimmer of the Year and First-Team All-AMCC. The senior broke six individual records at the AMCC meet. Cook broke the team, AMCC open and AMCC meet record in the 100 and 200 breaststroke.
Wade was named Diver of the Year for sweeping both diving events at the championships. She also was named AMCC Diver of the Week seven times.
Anne Lawrence (State College, PA/State College) was named an All-AMCC first-team choice in seven events, including four relay and three individual. Lawrence won the 200 IM, 100 butterfly and 200 butterfly. She also joined the winning 400 free, the 800 free, the 400 medley and the record-setting 200 medley relays.
MaryEllen Spooner (Lockhaven, PA/West Springfield), Katie Siffrinn (Canonsburg, PA/Canon-McMillan) and Hilary MacManus (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk) were also instrumental in the four first-place relays, to earn first-team honors. Spooner also earned All-AMCC first-team for winning the 100 and 200 back in record-breaking times. MacManus rounded out the first-team accolades for placing first in the 50 free.
Siffrinn headlined the second-team honors, taking home three certificates for her second place in the 200 IM, 100 and 200 backstroke. Emily Frederick (Russell, PA/Eisenhower), the 2011 Diver of the Year, was chosen to the second team in the 1m and 3m diving.
