Three Qualify for ECACs at Kane Invitational
The Penn State Behrend women’s track and field team traveled to Ithaca on Saturday afternoon to compete in the Kane Invitational at Cornell University.
ITHACA, NY – The Penn State Behrend women's track and field team traveled to Ithaca on Saturday afternoon to compete in the Kane Invitational at Cornell University.
Katie Spade (Warren, PA/Warren) qualified for ECACs in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:16.43. That was good for a second place finish overall and it set a new Behrend indoor record.
Paige Allen (Butler, PA/Butler) broke her own school record with an ECAC qualifying time of 26.97 seconds in the 200 meter dash. That constituted a 17th place finish. Allen also finished 12th in the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.09.
In the 5000 meter run, Catie Bertges (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) qualified for ECACs with a sixth place finish and a time of 18:52.07.
Jamie Szramowski (Pittsburgh, PA/Oakland Catholic) carded a 15th place finish in the 500 meter dash with a time of 1:27.54. Abby Gilmore (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) finished two spots later with a time of 1:27.81.
The Lions team of Gilmore, Szramowski, Haley Hughes (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton), and Spade came in third place in the 4x800 meter relay with a time of 10:08.42.
Behrend will next compete at Mt. Union on February 8.
