MEADVILLE, Pa. - Sophomore thrower Julia Balaski (Mercer, PA/Mercer) broke her own Penn State Behrend women's outdoor track & field record in the javelin at the 'Marty Goldberg' Gator Invite, hosted by Allegheny on Thursday.
Key Moments:
* On her fifth throw of the day, Balaski set the new school record in the javelin with a distance of 130-9, surpassing her old school record of 128-6 which she posted last weekend at conference championships
* This distance was also good enough for first place in the event
* Madison Kappeler (Cecil, PA/Canon-McMillan) recorded a runner-up finish with a time jump of 17-2 1/4 in the long jump
* A pair of eighth-place finishes were registered by Paige Massey (Erie, PA/McDowell) in the shot put and Jessica Park (East Meadow, NY/East Meadow) in the hammer throw
