CORTLAND, N.Y. – Caroline Lewis won the javelin and three athletes had a career-best time/mark to lead the Penn State Behrend women's track & field team on the first day of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Conference Outdoor Championships on Friday, hosted by Cortland.
Key Moments:
* In the javelin throw, Lewis had a winning throw of 34.87m (114-5) to capture her first gold medal at the championships
* Braylee Lukehart came in third place for a second straight year, throwing 31.00m (101-8)
* Jessica Park led the Lions in the hammer throw, finishing sixth overall with a distance of 43-02 (141-2)
* In the 400m prelims, Caroline McDevitt finished fifth in a personal-best time of 59.76 to advance to the finals
* Becca O'Neill led Behrend in the pole vault, tying her season-best height with 3.05m for fifth and Morgan Martin seventh (2.75m)
* Abigail Falk will advance to the finals in 200m, placing eighth with a time of 26.30 in the prelims
* In the 10,000m, Baylee Dernar ran a personal-best time of 42.09.33 for ninth overall
* As a team, the Lions are fourth out of 12 teams with a score of 22
* The top-3 finishers in each event earn a spot on the SUNYAC All-Conference Team
