Women's Volleyball Earns Team Academic Award
The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team has earned the United State Marine Corps and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2021-22 season.
ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team has earned the United State Marine Corps and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2021-22 season.
The women are receiving this honor for the fifth straight year and seventh time overall in program history. This season, the Lions posted a 22-6 overall record and won their sixth AMCC Championship, defeating Alfred State 3-0 in the title match. Behrend was named the AMCC Regular-Season Champions with an 8-0 record and had five players named to the All-AMCC squad, including Player of the Year in Kristin Reiland (Fairview, PA/Villa Maria Academy). Head coach Phil Pisano garnered his seventh Coach of the Year honors.
The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale.
