Women's Volleyball Opens Season With Two Wins

LATROBE, Pa. – The Behrend women's volleyball team swept Bethany (WV) 3-0 and defeated Westminster 3-1 at the St. Vincent Tournament on Friday night.

Match One:
Final Score:  Behrend 3, Bethany 0 (25-21, 25-14, 25-20)
Records: Penn State Behrend (1-0), Bethany (0-1)

* Head Coach Jared Marks tallied his first two wins with the Lions
* Behrend registered double-digit kills in each match, including a set-high 22 to close out the match
* Newcomer Addica Sperry tallied her first collegiate double-double with 14 kills and 14 digs
* Cadence Jones hit 0.472 behind 19 kills, two errors on 36 attempts while adding eight digs
* Sara Nobach added 12 digs, five assists and three service aces
* Setter Brynne Smith dished out 26 assists and was one dig shy of a double-double with nine

* Behrend took the early lead convincingly by a score of 25-12 and eventually winning in four sets
* Jones continued her strong hitting in the second match with a .405 percentage and team-best 17 kills
* Jones also added five solo blocks, three assists and two service aces
* Nobach had another double-digit digs performance with a team-high 14
* Lynndee Ickes also posted double-digit kills with 11 in her first match with the Lions
