Behrend Women's Volleyball Faces No. 2 La Verne in NCAA First Round
The Penn State Behrend women’s volleyball team will travel to Baltimore, Maryland and the campus of Johns Hopkins University to take on the No. 2 La Verne Leopards (25-2) in the first round of the 2025 NCAA Division III Tournament on Thursday.
ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team will travel to Baltimore, Maryland and the campus of Johns Hopkins University to take on the No. 2 La Verne Leopards (25-2) in the first round of the 2025 NCAA Division III Tournament on Thursday.
The Lions (22-7) are making their sixth appearance in the 64-team tournament, earning the automatic bid after winning their seventh Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championship with a 3-2 win over Mt. Aloysius on Sunday.
The No. 9 Blue Jays (25-4) will host the eight-team NCAA Regional with other first-round matches including No. No. 25 Lynchburg (26-4) vs. William Smith (23-7), St. John Fisher (29-1) against Wentworth, and lastly Johns Hopkins vs. Stevenson (18-13).
Thursday's winners will play in the regional semifinals on Friday with the regional final set for Saturday.
La Verne earned an at-large bid after falling in the SCIAC championship match to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, 3-2. The Leopards have won three national titles and enter the NCAA Tournament with only two losses.
The Behrend Lions and La Verne Leopards are meeting for the first time in program history.
