Lions Compete At W&J Saturday

WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend women's water polo team dropped two games at the Washington & Jefferson Invitational on Saturday.

Match One

Score/2 OT: Grove City 17, Penn State Behrend 13
Records: Grove City (4-12), Penn State Behrend (4-9)

Key Moments:

* Behrend controlled a 10-7 lead after three quarters, led by a pair of goals from Makenzie Rickerd (Rockford, MI/Rockford) and Darragh Martin (Green Lane, PA/Perkiomen)
* Sophomore Dylan Scherping (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) tallied two scores in the fourth quarter
* The Wolverines scored a goal with one second left in regulations to knot the score at 13 apiece and forced overtime
* Grove City ended up grabbing four scores in the overtimes to secure the win
* Scherping and Rickerd each finished with a hat trick, while Martin and Nic Darrell (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge) delivered two goals
* Goalie Monica Villasenor (San Gabriel, CA/Pasadena) recorded six saves, four steals, and three assists

Key Moments:

* Scherping, Lauren True (Denton, TX/Guyer), Hope Edwards (Bloomfield, MI/Seaholm), and Susie Carrillo (Fresno, CA/Clovis North Educational Center) each found the back of the net twice in the second game on Saturday
* Villasenor and Rickerd each had three takeaways agains the Presidents
* In net, Villasenor and Baileigh Marino (Erie, PA/Girard) combined to make eight saves
