The Buffalo State men’s volleyball team rallied from a two-set deficit to defeat Penn State Behrend 3-2 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Thursday night in the Junker Center.
ERIE, Pa. – The Buffalo State men's volleyball team rallied from a two-set deficit to defeat Penn State Behrend 3-2 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Thursday night in the Junker Center.
Score: Buffalo State 3, Penn State Behrend 2 (19-25, 17-25, 25-18, 26-24, 15-11)
Records: Penn State Behrend (16-6, 6-2 AMCC), Buffalo State (22-3, 9-0 AMCC)
Key Moments:
* The Bengals won three unanswered sets to snap the Lions eight-match winning streak
* Behrend did not have any receiving errors in the first set and held a 13-7 advantage in kills for a 25-19 win
* Joseph Sciscio and Cameron Schleicher each had four kills while Luke Mumpower posted 12 assists and four digs
* In the second set, the Lions held a 16-10 lead thanks to five team blocks and forcing Buffalo State to 10 attack errors
* The Bengals never trailed in the third set and hit .296 to chip away at the lead with a 25-18 win
* Buffalo State used the momentum from the third to get past the Lions in the fourth in extra points
* The score was tied eight times, including three times down the stretch
* Schleicher got the dig/kill combination at 24-all but two straight kills by the Bengals gave the visitors a 26-24 win to force a fifth set
* After trailing 3-2 in the fifth, Buffalo State got a pair of kills from Brady Bowman to take the lead for good
* Schleicher hit .333 with 15 kills on 33 attempts with five block assists and 10 digs for the double-double
* Jack Wilcox and Mumpower also had double-doubles
* Wilcox tallied 10 kills and 10 digs, and Mumpower registered 42 assists and 11 digs
* Lewis Rhodes posted seven blocks (five assist, two solo)
* Daniel Easly and Joseph Sciscio added 10 kills each
* Sciscio led with three solo blocks and two assist
