ELMIRA, NY – The Elmira men's volleyball team posted a 3-0 win over Penn State Behrend with scores of 25-23, 25-22 and 25-21 in United Volleyball Conference (UVC) action on Wednesday night.
Nathan Steele (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) and Ty Sheehan (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton) led the attack for the Lions (1-4). Steele tallied eight kills and four digs, while Sheehan recorded nine kills.
Josh Oertly (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton), Kevin Smith (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin), and Tyler Karl (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) each made two blocks on the night.
The win marks the second for Elmira over Behrend. In the inaugural season for the Lions last year, the Soaring Eagles registered a 3-1 victory.
Behrend returns to action on Saturday against Penn State Altoona. The home opener begins at 7 p.m.
