ERIE, Pa. – Valerie Wagner (Pittsburgh, PA/Montour) netted her first half trick of the season, while Erin McCreary (Pittsburgh, PA/Seton-La Salle) added a pair of goals and an assist to lead the Penn State Behrend women's soccer team past Mt. Aloysius 7-0 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Saturday.
Four goals happened in the first half and the Lions (10-6-1, 6-2 AMCC) added three more in the second to collect their sixth conference win on senior day.
On senior day, McCreary took control of the first half collecting all her points to give Behrend a 4-0 lead. She assisted senior Lindsey Steinsdoerfer (North Huntingdon, PA/North Hills) on the first goal just 9:05 into the game.
Wagner then fed McCreary in the 18th minute for a 2-0 lead. McCreary took the ball from Wagner and created a one-on-one situation with goalie Jen Gutsky, blasting the ball through her hands.
Senior Heather Klimuszka (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) scored from the middle on a one-touch shot off a pass from Steinsdoerfer in the 39th minute for a 3-0 lead. Just before the end of the first stanza, Cassi Teti (Elizabeth Forward, PA/Elizabeth Forward) bumped the ball to Danielle Pelensky (Harborcreek, PA/Harborcreek), who then chipped it to McCreary for a four-goal lead at halftime.
Wagner tallied all three goals in the final 45 minutes, getting assists from Tina Pendice (Monroeville, PA/Gateway) and Klimuszka for the final margin.
Alayna Steele (Washington, PA/Trinity) made two saves after coming in to play keeper in the second half.
Behrend competes in their final regular-season home game on Wednesday against D'Youville. Game time is 3 p.m.
